Wildcats Assemble – The first cast has been announced for the upcoming production of High School Musical, coming to Salford’s Lowry Theatre.
The leader will be Tobias Turley (Oh mom!) and Leonor Correia (Six) like Troy and Gabriella. They will be joined by Caitlin Tipping and Luke Bayer, who are currently starring in Titanic the Musical, as brother and sister duo Sharpay and Ryan.
The news was announced last night during the What’sOnStage Awards, followed by the first ever public appearance from the actor. Further casting will be revealed in due course.
Produced by Hope Mill Theater and Chris Harper Productions with Lowry, High School Musical will run at the Lowry in Salford from 21 August to 13 September 2026. Based on the Disney Channel original feature, this will be the first UK non-replica production of High School Musical and celebrates 20 years since the film’s original release.
The venue’s Lyric Theater is reconfigured for the performances to create the ultimate East High experience. This will include an immersive basketball court environment, stage seating and an expanded playing surface. Fans can expect to hear all the classics from the original film, including “We’re All In This Together”, “Breaking Free” and “Stick To The Status Quo”.
High School Musical features a book by David Simpatico with music arranged, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle. The production will be directed by Hope Mills founders Joseph Houston and William Whelton.
The creative team also includes choreography by Aaron Renfree, set design by Andrew Exeter, sound design by Matt Peploe, video design by George Reeve, lighting design by Rory Beaton, costume design by Sophia Pardon, musical direction by Katy Richardson, musical direction by Audra Cramer, casting by Pearson Casting, production management by Chris Harper, Product Management and Ammonite Studios.
