AFTERDRIVE Embrace Dark Pop Tension on New Single ‘Fashion’

Rising UK alt-pop/rock outfit FOLLOW UP returns this week with his sharpest, sharpest statement yet: ‘Fashion’a brooding, pulse-pounding single that captures the emotional whiplash of modern romance.

Released on February 25th, the track sees the band lean towards a darker sonic palette without sacrificing the immediacy that has fueled their rapid ascent. Driven by taut guitar lines and glossy, contemporary synth textures, the song – produced and mixed by Thomas Mitchener (Pixie Lott, NOAHFINCE) – balances urgency with atmosphere, while crashing drums and modern electronic textures seethe beneath vocalist Ben Watt’s effortlessly cool, commanding delivery.

Lyrically speaking, ‘Fashion’ dissects the tension between amorous desires, as the band explores the push-and-pull of physical closeness and emotional distance in an age where connection is often filtered through curated flows and curated personas. It’s a theme that feels distinctly Gen Z – desire complicated by perception, vulnerability masked by aesthetics.

The single comes with a hypnotic music video produced and directed by Milk Creativeenhancing the moody, stylized energy of the track. Visually and sonically, AFTERDRIVE seems to be refining its identity – sharpening the edges rather than softening them.
