The long awaited first trailer for Euphoria season three has arrived, offering a tense look at where HBO’s cultural touchstone is headed next when it returns April 12more than four years after its second season aired. The preview confirms a sharper, riskier progression for the series as its characters enter adulthood, with old mistakes following them into far more dangerous terrain.
Zendaya’s Rue chronicles the shift early on and reflects on life after high school and the distance between expectation and reality. Now in her early twenties, Rue seems to have moved from chaotic self-destruction to a more calculated role in the drug trade, though the trailer makes it clear that survival still comes at a cost. Laurie, the dealer Rue crossed paths with in season two, reappears to collect an unpaid debt, setting off a chain of events that quickly spirals beyond Rue’s control.

The trailer outlines a world where morality feels increasingly negotiable. Maddie frames sucker baby culture as normalized, even as she distances herself from it. Jules is drawn into shadier territory, while Rosalía appears as a stripper on the Silver Slipper, signaling how far the show has drifted from its high school origins. Cassie is now an OnlyFans creator, a choice that causes resentment and control issues in her engagement to Nate. He presents a polished exterior through his construction business but appears visibly rattled by closing forces.
Season three also marks the show’s first chapter following the death of Angus Cloud, whose portrayal of Fezco became central to Euphoria’s emotional core. The absence hangs quietly over the film, reinforcing the sense of finality surrounding the new season, which is widely expected to conclude the series.
Behind the camera, creator Sam Levinson pushes the show into more cinematic territory, with the season shot on 35mm and 65mm film. It’s a rare move for narrative television that mirrors the characters’ expansion into a bigger, harsher world. As Euphoria recurs, it positions itself less as a teenage drama and more as a study of faith, power and consequences in early adulthood.
