Starlight Express announce final London extension and world tour in 2027

Final boarding call! It has been announced that the hit musical Starlight Express will conclude in London this year.

The musical, which has been running at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theater since June 2024, is being extended for a final time but will close on Sunday 3 May 2026. It’s not all sad news for Stex fans though as it has also been revealed that Starlight Express will embark on a world tour in 2027. Further details will be announced in due course.

Michael Harrison said: “I’m delighted about it Starlight Express will be extended for the 7th time, in the unique setting of the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. We are also delighted that the success of this new production means we are embarking on a world tour commencing in Spring 2027, details of which we will announce shortly. But for now, this is your last call to board to see the spectacular London revival at Wembley.”

Starlight Express is a true spectacle that sees a toddler’s train set come to life. Featuring a cast of 40 impressively whizzing around the custom-built Starlight Auditorium on ice skates, it follows Rusty the steam train who yearns to be the fastest in the world.

Featuring songs such as ‘Light at the End of the Tunnel’, ‘Make Up My Heart’ and the title track ‘Starlight Express’, the musical has a huge cult following and has won a number of awards including an Olivier Award. This particular production has also become London’s longest-running revival of an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in 20 years.

A London cast album was released in November 2024, with over 17 million streams to date. One of the songs, ‘Pumping Iron’, also enjoyed a major viral moment thanks to Al Knott’s rendition of the traditionally sung male song.

The Starlight Express cast includes Gavin Adams as Rusty, Jade Marvin as Momma McCoy, Olivia Ringrose as Greaseball, Asher Forth as Electra, Sophie Naglik as Pearl, Georgia Pemberton as Dinah, Jaydon Vijn as Hydra and Scott Hayward as Alternate Rusty.
