Bad Bunny wins its first “Album of the Year” award

Bad rabbit picked up the biggest win of his career on Thursday night and earned Album of the year at Latin Grammy Awards 2025 for I should have taken more pictures—his first ever win in a general category and a milestone moment in the ceremony’s 26-year history. The Puerto Rican superstar, who entered the night with 12 nominations, was the night’s most decorated performer, even as several top-tier trophies temporarily eluded him.

Already a commercial and cultural force long before the awards night, the album continued its sweep across the urban categories. “DtMF,” one of the project’s most critically acclaimed tracks, soared to wins in Best Urban/Urban Fusion Performance and Best Urban Song, while “Voy A Llevarte Pa PR” captured Best Reggaeton Performance. Debí Tirar Más Fotos itself also triumphed as Best Urban Music Album, confirming its dominant footprint across Latin music’s most competitive genres.

Bad Bunny accepted the final award of the night, centering the victory around his home island and the collaborators who shaped the record’s soundscape. “There are many ways to be proud of and defend our homeland, but we choose music.” he said on stage, thanking the artists on the project, including Chuwi, with whom he performed “Weltita” earlier in the broadcast.

For much of the night, it looked like Bad Bunny might walk away without a win in the heavyweight division. Karol G claimed Song of the Year for his viral hit “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”, while Alejandro Sanz took “Record of the Year” for “Palmeras En El Jardín”, which placed him as one of the most celebrated veterans of the night. But the final envelope changed the narrative – handing the global star her first Latin Grammy for the general field and ending the ceremony with one of its loudest ovations.
