Day three in Paris saw two more seeds fall, with Casper Ruud and Lorenzo Musetti both sent packing.
Wildcard Valentin Vacherot kept his Masters 1000 run alive by edging cousin Arthur Rinderknech in another gritty three-setter, while Daniil Medvedev advanced via walkover after Grigor Dimitrov pulled out injured.
Elsewhere, Félix Auger-Aliassime survived by the skin of his teeth in back-to-back tiebreaks, Daniel Altmaier took out an out-of-sorts Ruud, and Jannik Sinner looked sharp in his opener to extend his indoor winning streak to 22 matches.
Alexander Bublik kept the entertainment level high, both with his tennis and his post-match trolling, while Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov needed three sets to get through.
This is what day three looked like.

Key matches

Jannik Sinner def. Zizou Berg 6-4, 6-2
Jannik Sinner opened his Rolex Paris Masters campaign with an easy 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Zizou Bergs in 88 minutes, extending his indoor hardcourt winning streak to 22 matches.
The No. 2 seed broke in the marathon 12-minute opening, never faced a break point, won 77% (24/31) of first-serve points and constantly pressured the Belgian on serve.
Sinner next faces Francisco Cerundolo, who outlasted Miomir Kecmanovic 7-5, 1-6, 7-6(4), and he looks comfortable in Paris conditions.
Valentin Vacherot def. Arthur Rinderknech 6-7(9), 6-3, 6-4
In a family rematch of the Shanghai final, Valentin Vacherot beat cousin Arthur Rinderknech 6-7(9), 6-3, 6-4 to extend his Masters 1000 winning streak to nine matches.
The wildcard, now up to No. 37 in the ATP Live Rankings, overcame a sloppy tiebreak loss and 28 unforced errors with aggressive returns and clutch play in the decider.
Felix Auger-Aliassime def. Alexandre Muller 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(4)
Felix Auger-Aliassime survived a roller-coaster 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(4) battle against home seed Alexandre Muller, who rallied from 2-5 down in the second set tiebreak to save two match points in the decider.
The ninth seed, clinging to some faint Turin hopes, fired 15 aces and won 83% of first-serve points in 2 hours 38 minutes.
Daniel Altmaier def. Casper Ruud 6-3, 7-5
Qualifier Daniel Altmaier topped eighth seed Casper Ruud 6-3, 7-5, breaking three times and saving 5 of 6 break points to reach the third round.
The German dictated with 32 winners and took advantage of Ruud’s passive returns, and Casper has looked badly out of form in the last week or two, probably hampered by some physical issues, and he probably turned up just to get that bonus pool.
Daniel Medvedev def. Grigor Dimitrov Walkover
Daniil Medvedev advanced via a walkover after Grigor Dimitrov withdrew with a right shoulder injury sustained in his first-round win.
Grigor made his injury comeback against Perricard on Monday, and while he looked ok, Perricard was average, so you couldn’t really say “he’s back”, and now it’s been put to bed because he can’t even produce back-to-back matches.
Alexander Zverev def. Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-7(5), 6-1, 7-5
Third seed Alexander Zverev overcame a set deficit to defeat lucky loser Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-7(5), 6-1, 7-5, breaking four times in the final two sets after dropping a close start.
The German fired 12 aces and saved 3 of 4 break points in the decider to avoid an upset. Zverev, hoping to defend his title, next faces Davidovich Fokina.
Alexander Bublik def. Corentin Moutet 6-3, 7-5
Alexander Bublik, in career best form with 34 wins and four titles in 2025, dismissed France’s last hope Corentin Moutet 6-3, 7-5 in 1 hour and 37 minutes.
After the game, Bublik trolled Moutet (who trash-talked before the game about sending him “home”) by signing a camera lens “On the way home” and saying: “He talked too much… I had to punish him. Glad he lives in Paris – not far by taxi.” 🤣
Lorenzo Sonego def. Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-3, 6-1
Lorenzo Sonego stunned seventh seed and Turin challenger Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in an all-Italian clash, recording his first top-10 win in over two years (since RG 2023).
Sonego tightened up her game after a sloppy first set and broke twice in each of the next two sets with aggressive forehands and held firm.
Musetti’s collapse gives Auger-Aliassime a shot to leapfrog him in the Race to Turin.
Karen Khachanov def. João Fonseca 6-1, 3-6, 6-3
10th seed Karen Khachanov, the 2018 Paris champion, survived a fightback from Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca to win 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in 1 hour 50 minutes on Wednesday.
Khachanov dominated the opening 29 minutes and broke twice as Fonseca (after the Basel title) struggled with mistakes. The 19-year-old roared back in set 2 with 17 winners and broke twice to level before Khachanov dug in to take the decider.
Alex de Minaur def. Gabriel Diallo 7-6(8), 4-6, 6-3
Alex de Minaur grinded past big-serving Gabriel Diallo 7-6(8), 4-6, 6-3 in 2h37m, saving 3 set points in a wild first set in which he led 5-2 in games, but fell to 0-5 in the tie break before taking it 10-8
As usual, De Minaur’s defense prevailed, breaking twice in the decider, and he has now amassed 41 tough wins this season.
