Theater news: Olly Hawes returns to Riverside Studios with Old Fat F ** k Up

After last year’s acclaimed work, F ** King Legend Author and Artist Olly Hawes return to Riverside Studios this winter with Old fat f ** k up – A dark funny, some autobiographical exploration of masculinity, paternity and arrive at the brittle edges of the middle age with dreams that are not met.

In its core, the One Man story follows an exhausted father, who fucks under financial and social pressure and lives with his partner and two children in a crowded ex-council Maisonette. Told with both humor and tenderness, but shot through a gloomy, unclear streak of something raw and worrying, culminates the game in a crushing act against his son that forces brutally honest questions about responsibility and what it means to be a parent – and a man – in the world today.

At one time both personal and sharp political, Old fat f ** k up Confront average age, parenting, class and generational differences with width, rage and honesty. A partial (but really not completely) autobiographical hybrid of stories, stand-up and raw confession, which mixes fact and fiction, and infused with the dark fantastic, the exhibition interrogation that shapes male identity and reveals the gap between who is, as they hoped to be, and who they may hear.

Transfer explores the story The fragile notion of masculinity – how men present different versions of themselves at home, on the street and in a broader culture – and the consequences when that performance collapses.
