Hot on the heels of her latest single “Fast”, Global Powerhouse Demi Lovato has revealed its new track “here all night”.
Made by Zhone (Kylie Minogue, Troye Sivan, Kesha), ‘Here all night’ Cements Demi’s dance-pop. Synth-heavy tracks are a playful breakup track that shows Demis Powerhouse song perfectly. In collaboration with vibrant production, ‘here all night’ is an euphoric hymne for nights that never ends.
The track has been paired with a visually fantastic music video, which sees Demi dancing around her apartment and embrace freedom. The visual was directed by often partner Hannah Lux Davis, who was also responsible for “Cool for the summer” and “Sorry not sorry” videos.
Demi shares with the songwriting process for the single, Demi shares: “‘Here all night’ is a breakup song that I wrote by channeling a character, and it was so liberating to go into someone else’s story.” In the video, Demi adds: “From the moment we ended the song, I knew it needed to be a dance video. It’s about dancing through heart damage. It’s raw and strengthening, with a playful, voyeuristic point of view.”
To celebrate the release of “Here All Night”, Demi held a “Girls & Gays Music Video Night” along with other stars and top creators. As described in GQ is Gay Music Video Night “The First Art Tradition that has become a secular ritual for queer pop fans,” and this event was no exception.
Guests arrived at an outdoor space equipped with sofas, a photo booth, a gift suite and a 20-foot projection screen that plays music videos that were sent in advance by the participants. They enjoyed a taco stand, cotton candy and popcorn machines, a Churro Sundae truck, a pickle bar (with permission by Jimmy Johns), a glass shake from Bigg Chill, Caliwater and other refreshments. Among those present were Kim Petras, Adéla, Adore Delano, Markell Washington and Tayshia Adams, along with ”Here all night ” Director Hannah Lux Davis and colleagues.
The programming officially started when the hosts Trisha Paytas and Oscar Gracey took the stage to welcome the audience, share their own favorite music videos and set the tone for the night. Together, the group reviewed some of Demi’s most iconic videos, including “heart attack” and “cool for the summer”, before the clock beat 21.00 pt / midnight et and the audience tuned into the living premiere of “here all night.” The moment ended by Demi and the video loans, Hannah Lux Davis, and joined the audience to share stories about the creative process – before the video was played once to the joy of the audience.
“Here All Night” follows from previous single “Fast”, and is the second track taken from Demi’s long-awaited ninth studio album, which is described as “Celebrator dance-pop”, “is on the way.” When he talked about working with Demi, her executive producer Zhone said: “It has been so inspiring to work with Demi and experience her journey with continued equalization. She is such a master in the studio. This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun to make this music! It really comes all over.”
Demi will participate in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge month, with its performance which will take place on October 22. Fans can expect to hear Demi’s own songs as well as her choice of cover – Demi got viral for her cover for Hoziers ‘Take Me to Church’ back in 2015 so we can’t wait to see what she chooses this time!
