A knives out mystery ‘ – roll, empty and release date revealed

The knives are out again. The third part of Rian Johnson’s acclaimed whodunit series, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out MysteryHas lost its first poster and confirmed on December 12 Netflix’s edition after a limited theater driving from 26 November. The film, again led by Daniel Craig as a detective Benoit Blanc, promises to take the franchise to Uncharted Thematic Territory with what Johnson describes as Blanc’s “most personal journey yet.”

Located in a quiet village in Upstate New York, the mystery begins when an impossible murder rattles a closely composed society led by charismatic Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) and his young assistant priest Jud Dupenticy (Josh O’Connor). The congregation contains an ensemble of familiar Hollywood names: Glenn Close, Thomas Haden Church, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott and Cailee Spaeny. Following the shocking crime, local police chief Geraldine calls for Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis), whose insistence is that “this was dressed as a miracle, it is just a murder. And I solve murder” emphasizes the film’s tension between faith and reason.

Johnson, who received Oscar nominations for both Knives out and Glass onionSee fertile land in this church story. “The themes of guilt, mystery, morality and decayable humanity all feel at home in a church, with a man of God in the middle of the mixture,” he says. “I have strong feelings about faith: both my own personal experience and how it crosses our country’s cultural and civic life and the ways the intersection touches us all differently. So it felt like a rich land for a good story.”

While the ultra -can Glass onion Skewered tech moguls and the cult of excess, Johnson frames Wake up dead man as a gothic return to the roots of the genre. “It resembles the first Knives out In that it gets back to the real origins of the genre, which predate agatha christie, going back to edgar allan poe, “he explains. You start to think that you are looking at an old-fashioned type of Agatha Christie-type mystery-But then it changes, and you realize that you are looking at something completely different.”

The director also suggests that varying narrative focus and emphasizes that Blanc is never the only center in these films. “The secret of each of these films is that Benoit Blanc is not the main character in these films. There is always a protagonist who has some real efforts and skin in the game,” says Johnson. “Josh’s character Jud is that character in this movie.” For O’Connor, who navigates in Jud’s Crisis of Faith, was to work with Johnson revealing: “He is a sensational filmmaker. What is surprising to me is always when a brilliant director is also a brilliant writer, for me they are very different skills. Rian has both, and he is very funny, very smart, deeply and torture.

The ensemble reflects Johnson’s growing features in Hollywood. “Every day on the set with this ensemble, I would blink and be surprised that we talked to these people to show up,” Johnson admits. “The experience of making these films and chemistry between these incredible actors is the key to why we love to make them. You get fantastic actors together, you let them hang out and games will follow.”

Wake up dead man Will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6 before it opens the BFI London Film Festival on October 8. Its offset rolling rolling – first in selected theaters, then all over the world on Netflix – reflects the way to Glass onionPositioning the film for both the awards buzzing and mass streaming appeal. Whether this latest mystery continues Johnson’s streak by critical and commercial success will be revealed soon, but one thing is certain: Benoit Blanc is far from made impossible murders.
