Sinner Wins Maiden Wimbledon Title

Jannik Sinner demanded his revenge on Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday, defeated the twice defeated champion 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the Wimbledon final to capture his fourth major and become the first Italian man to win the single crown.

The world No. 1, which fell to Alcaraz for a five-hour, 29-minute Roland Garros Epic last month, delivered a typical sin-esque performance at the Center Court and ended the Spanish’s 24-match winning line in a 3-hour, 4-minute meeting.

Thoughts on the final

sins wimbledonsins wimbledon

Another interesting final between the two best players in the world, and I thought the sins’ performance was impressive because he was not on his French Open loss and effectively showed that he had learned some lessons from Paris.

In the first set, both guys started solid and the sinner got the first break at 2-2. However, Alcaraz was able to strike back and take advantage of his aggressive advance to target the Sinner’s forehand side and rushed the Italian in the baseline.

His brand tactical variety, including often drop shots, disturbed the sinner’s rhythm, and it caused him to postpone when he sealed the set with a fantastic defensive backhand block on the route, Removed Sinner’s heavy ground distances in a quality exchange.

Everything changed at the beginning of the second set when Sinner broke Alcaraz in the opening game, saved a critical breaking point in his next service game and slowly found its rhythm. Alcaraz began to show signs of frustration, while Sinner became more confident in his game.

At the third set, the sinner was in full control. His first serving percentage climbed to 84%, which made it harder for Alcaraz to gain a foothold in return games. Carlos also continued to fight with his serving, lacked for many first serving and threw in some costly double errors. Sinner broke him 4-4 and served the set with authority.

In the fourth, the sinner broke again early, this time with a couple of fantastic back -hand winners. Of crucial importance, when he served at 4–3 and before breaking points, the sinner could have had flashbacks to Roland Garro’s collapse, but he remained aggressive. He met a 110 km / h second to serve to save one of the break points and then met a clean jumping winner to help keep the server.

At 5–4, at the match point, released its fastest serving of the match, 137 km / h down T to pass the title.

So a deserved victory for the sinner, when he played the cleaner match. After the opening set, he was in the relentless attacking situation.

Carlos played in a more muted way compared to how I expected him to do and was passive for long distances. Slams has the “in attack” metric on its statistics and sinners almost doubled its % from Set One compared to the last three.

It is mostly emotionally, because I had a very tough loss in Paris. But at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how you win or how you lose on important tournaments, you just have to understand what you did wrong and try to work with it, and that’s exactly what we did. We tried to accept the loss and only continued to work. This is certainly one of the reasons why I keep this trophy here. I am just so grateful that I am healthy and have amazing people around me, and keeping this trophy means a lot. It’s so hard to play against you, but we have a fantastic relationship from the track and on the track we are just trying to build up and do what we need the best teams in the world. Continue, continue pressing and you will keep this [trophy] many times. You already have two [titles]! It’s so special. Seeing my parents here, my brother, the whole team, it’s fantastic. Actually a special thank you to my brother, for there is no Formula 1 race this weekend, that’s why he’s here. Sinners on their winnings.

It’s hard to lose. It is always difficult to lose, even if it is in the final, but first and foremost I have to congratulate Jannik again. It is a really well deserved trophy [after] An incredible two weeks here in London for you and plays good tennis. For your team too. I know there are many families and many friends looking at you here, so it’s just a fantastic team around you. I’m really happy for you. So just go on, and I’m really happy to be able to build a really good relationship from the court but then a good rivalry on the court. It makes me improve every day, so thank you so much and congratulations. I’m really proud of everything I do. At the beginning of the season I struggled a bit on court and outside the court, but then suddenly I just started to be in court again, being happy again, and the excitement I have every time steps on court is thanks to my team, my family and many friends. I’m glad I have them here. Without them, it would not be possible to stand here right now- it is a fantastic trip as far as I am really proud of. I just want to keep going. Alcaraz on the final.
