Las Vegas-based Light & Wonder has announced a multimillion dollar agreement with Buffalo Thunder and the cities in gold casinos in New Mexico to modernize their casino systems and operations.
The tribal properties, run by Pueblo from Pojoaque, were early adopters to Iview Pro S, Light & Wonder’s latest casino hardware system.
The player interface improves the gaming experience by showing dynamic content and enabling customer interaction. The system will be distributed over 1,400 slot machines and is designed to streamline the business, reduce the information technology over their heads and make the game more fun for players.
“Buffalo Thunder and Cities of Gold Casinos provide excellent gaming experiences to their players,” said Jon Wolfe, chairman of global systems and services at Light & Wonder. “We are pleased to take the next step with them to distribute a modern, connected gaming environment that their patron will love.”
Golden Entertainment’s First Quarter Financials
The revenues from the first quarter were in line with expected results for Las Vegas-based golden entertainment, with reported reductions from year to year from the company’s continued operations that are almost entirely derived from the lack of Super Bowl operations.
Further complicated YOY comparisons during the first quarter were Golden’s Divestiture of the Nevada distributed gaming operations, which were closed in early 2024 and generated almost $ 6 million in revenue and $ 500,000 in revenue before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA).
All in all, Golden Entertainment, who runs Strat Hotel-Casino, reported two Laughlin Properties, a casino in Pahrump, as well as Arizona Charlie’s and PT brands of local gaming facilities, almost $ 161 million in revenue during the first three months 2025, a decrease by 2025.
The hotel room laying decreased by 5 percent at Strat for the quarter, with a large part of what can be attributed to a decline of 12 percent in February. Las Vegas hosted its first Super Bowl ever in February 2024. The coating was up last month and trends up in May.
“Our focus on customer experience and operational efficiency enabled us to generate strong financial results despite uncertain macroeconomic conditions,” said Blake Sartini, chairman and CEO of Golden. “Our business is still resilient and we intend to continue to opportunistically repurchase our common warehouse under our current repurchase permit.”
Colorado sports games
A change in Colorado’s Sports Betting laws will ultimately result in more money being available for the state’s water project.
The state Senate’s approval of a change in a law on sports betting will gradually reduce the amount of money that sports books can deduct when they offer free marketing of investments.
According to state law, Sportsbook operators were allowed to deduct a certain percentage of campaigns that were distributed to players based on their monthly handles. However, according to the amendment, all marketing deductions will expire July 1, 2026. Promotion deductions will end with the time of deductions that will be reduced to a maximum of 2 percent of the handle between July 1, 2025, and 31 December 2025, no more than 1 percent of the handle between January 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026, with all marketing departments 1, 2026.
Voters were asked to remove the lid on promotional deductions at November’s vote.
The tax on Sportsbook revenue is devoted to water projects in Colorado.
