12 Nevada tourism businesses sign letter seeking end to government shutdown | Tourism

More than 500 travel companies, including 12 based in Nevada, have signed a letter to congressional leaders from the US Travel Association pleading for an end to the government shutdown impasse.

MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment Inc., The Venetian Casino Resort and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority were among the signatories of a letter to four leaders of the U.S. Senate and House asking for “a clean continuing resolution to reopen the federal government.”

The letter comes as the shutdown closes for a full month on Tuesday and airports around the country are experiencing flight delays as some air traffic controllers, unpaid since the shutdown began on Oct. 1, do not report to work.

Harry Reid International officials said Monday that the Las Vegas airport has experienced few delays as a result of the shutdown, but there is always concern that problems at other airports could lead to local flight delays and cancellations.
